Throwing the Ball

Begin with your fingertips on the ball with a loose grip. Hold the ball 1 to 3 inches away from your chest. Place your opposite hand gently on the ball to keep it secure. Have your feet about shoulder width apart. Point your opposite shoulder at the target. Make sure your throwing elbow is at shoulder level. Rotate your hips and point your foot at the target. Your elbow and wrist should snap downward as you throw the ball. The thumb of your throwing hand should be pointing down on the follow-through.
