Shoulder Stand (Calf-Pop)

By: Ms Pineapple's Cheer Page over 3 years ago

How to:

Base: Lunge with one foot back, creating a deep "pocket" for the flyer. Reach up and over head, elbows in line with ears. Grasp flyer's hands. On 1-2 dip and pop back knee, reaching up and locking arms. When flyer releases hands (one at a time), grasp back of calves, pulling down toward shoulders.

Flyer: Grasp base's hand and place toe into pocket of base's knee. On 1-2, push off with foot and lift other knee as high as you can, setting it on base's shoulder, follow with other foot. When comfortable, release one hand at a time, standing up. Hit your motion.

Backspot: Begin with hands on flyer's waist. Dip with base and assist flyer up. Reach for ankles, pulling down toward base's shoulders.

NOTE: Base can lunge on either leg. Flyer would also switch feet accordingly

Walk Off Dismount:

Base: Reach up and grasp flyer's hand (or wrists) one at a time. When flyer steps off, resist weight and bend at knees until flyer is safely to the floor. Flyer: Bend at waist, grasping base's hands, keeping head up. Step off base to the front, keeping arms locked until safely touching the floor.

Backspot: Release ankles and spot.

Pop Off Dismount:

Base: With hands still on back of calves, dip and "pop" flyer up (not out!) keeping hand up and watching flyer at all times. Reach and grab for flyer's hips and resist weight down to the floor.

Flyer: Stay tight (don't bend your knees!) while base dips. When you feel yourself leave the base's shoulders, pull into your center tightly. When you feel base grab your hips, reach behind and grasp base's wrists, helping to resist down.

Backspot: Release ankles and spot.
