1 on 1 Defense

Once your opponent gets the basketball it is too late, so it is crucial to learn how to defend against a player before he or she gets the basketball. In this basketball drill Kenny Smith and Carmelo Anthony demonstrate the defensive stance, having one hand out in the passing lane with your thumb pointed down, and your free hand resting on your opponent's chest with your fist closed. Use your peripheral vision and the defensive slide, making sure to open up once your opponent gets behind the basket, then slide across and close up on your opponent.
