All Star Picks in kid leagues 0 replies

My son, Presly, was 6 when he played baseball in a coach pitch league.  My boy is now 10 and is 5 ft 5 in, tall and 140 lbs. He loves playing sports and he loves "being the best he can be, each season.  Then, it's time for all star balloting.  At this stage of the game, so to say, its not time to discourage players by asking parents of the players to pick the top players,  For one, there aren't many parents who wont
vote for their own kid, regardless of that childs ability to play the game.  Talent?  Its never an issue for the picks.  Spring of '07, Presly was advanced to the all star try outs, by the head coach.  It seems that the kids who advance, each year are the coache's son's,and the kids of the friend of the coaches wife.  Its not about the ability to play the game or individual talent.  Its simply about popularity!

Lets give the players something to look and work forward to.  Lets make choices the players will appreciate and choices that we can all be proud of.
