No kidding about the cup. My son is 9, this is his first year catching and I did an equipment check just prior to the game and almost lost it when he told me he wasn't wearing one. I now do equipment checks before games and practices.
good basic information. You forgot to mention the most important equipment- the athletic supporter with the cup insert! It allows the catcher to really have confidence to do whatever it takes to block a pitch.
