Been a while since I wrote, but I have been extremely busy. One thing I have been busy with is preparing for my summer team, CKY Nitro, to head to Nebraska for next summers Cat Osterman Experience . We are so excited about this. We are going to get to play teams from all over the USA and Canada. The Cat Osterman Experience is what softball is all about. My girls get to stay in Bellevue, Nebraska for a week, learning, playing games, meeting Olympians, having contest, etc. This will truly be an experience that they will never forget. I would like to thank Chad Jennings for all of his help and for building this magnificent softball complex. I dont think I metioned this, but what makes this unique is that you go to this as a team. Its not like regular camps where you go as an individual. If anyone is interested in this. go to www.catsvillage.com for more information or send me an email and I will see if I can answer any questions. If you are a die-hard softball player or coach, you need to check into this. The reason I wrote this is because I have talked to several coaches and players, here in Kentucky, that has not heard of it. So, we need to spread the word if you want to be a part of the ultimate softball experience.
  2. CKY Nitro Continues To Win

The Central Kentucky Nitro, the summer travel team I  coach this summer continues to impress me. So far, we have played in five tournaments and did very well in all of them. We have come in 4th, come in 2nd twice, and won 1st in the last two tournaments. We have one more tourney in Georgetown, KY this weekend. These young ladies have gotten better each game. I knew it would be a challenge, because I havr girls on this team from 7 different schools. I thought it would take a little longer for them to develop team chemistry because of them not knowing each other, but they have become a solid team in a short amount of time. I want them to know that I am very proud of all of them. I want to wish them luck this weekend, and girls, if we keep hitting the ball the way we are now, we will be very hard to beat. Also, to our pitchers, if you all continue to dominate like you have all year long, we can finish strong this weekend.
Ona sad note, in the Championship game of the Lawrenceburg Tourney this past weekend, we had a nice umpire, Mr. Wayne, that called that game. He would come and sit and talk to me and my coaching staff in between innings. Mr. Wayne passed away yesterday. My coaching staff and the CKY Nitro softball team wishes his family the very best and to let them know that we are praying for them. The game of softball lost a very good man.

Wow! These young ladies continue to amaze me. We have been in 5 tourneys this year and won all 5. Our record is now 28-4. I hope that we maintain our focus because we have our district tourney coming up next week. But I just want the girls to continue to improve and not get satisfied at where we are now. But, Congratulations to all the players and coaches.

A big congratulations to my team. In the last month we have won four tournaments. Our record is 22-3. This is a special group of girls. They expect to win. This is the best team that I have coached that accepts their role. They are very supportive of each other and their coaches. The amazing thing is that we have won these tournaments riding the arms of two very young pitchers. These two young ladies, one is an 8th grader, who is my daughter, and the other is a freshman, have exceededthe goals that I set for them. Congratulations to the coaching staff for their hard work and dedication to this team. HarrisonCounty is in another tournament this weekend, looking tomake it five in a roll.

Cogratulations to all my players! Last weekend we won the Harrison County Spring Break Bash. We played really well and had strong pitching from my daughter, who is an 8th grader and also from freshman. Ashley won two games including the championship game as our pitcher. She also made the all tournament team.
We also won the Bracken County/Webber Farms Tournament this weekend. We hit the ball very well and once again had good pitching from our very young staff. This was a very long tourney on Saturday, due to rain. We got at the field at 8am and didnt get to leave until about 11:30 pm. Once again, Congratulations to our players and coaching staff!

    Hello All,
Softball is just around the corner. I just have a little information for you softball fans. For those of you that don1t already know, I've known for a long while, but just havent had the time to post it, Cat Osterman and Megan Willis will be tammates again. The Rockford Thunder signed Megan Willis last month. I got an email from Megan letting me know the good news. These two were the best pitcher-catcher combination in college softball. They both set several records at The University of Texas. Cat and Megan will make Rockford a special place to watch softball. I hope Rockford fans are ready for these two superstars. I just want to wish Megan and Cat the best of luck!

    Hi Everyone,
I don't know about you, but I am really getting excited for this upcoming softball season. Here in Kentucky, we are officially allowed to start practice on February 15. I can't wait and all my softball girls can't wait either. We have been conditioning since October and it has really paid off. I added alot of things to this years conditioning program. Thanks to Kristina Thorson of the Chicago Bandits! Kristina showed me alot of things we should be doing, and myself and my girls have seen a big difference. I am going to use alot of this for our pre-game warm-up.
Also I have been working on getting us a new batting cage. Luckily, this isgetting ready to be done. We are actually getting two new cages, so we are excited about this. I told you earlier that we are allowed to start practice February 15, I am curious when other states are allowed to start practice. If you could, send me a message and let me know when you are allowed to start practice. Also, let me know how many games you are allowed to play in the regular season. In Kentucky, we are allowed to play 36 games. We have to count every game, including tournaments. We used to be able to not count all tournament games, which allowed alot of teams to play way over their limit. Now everyone can't go over 36 total games. I know alot of you are just as excited asI am about getting started. Good luck to everyone and Play Ball !

Hello everyone, sorry it has been so long since I wrote on this blog, but I have been very busy working on our field and doing some clinics. I also have been gathering some autographed memorabilia from softball players to raise money for our local Lions Club. I have had a good response from people like Michelle Smith, Cat Osterman, Lisa Fernandez, Jennie Finch. Also, from a young lady by the name of Kristina Thorson. Kristina helped the Chicago Bandits win the Pro Fastpitch League. Kristina is a very good pitcher that also played for the California Bears in college. I remember watching Kristina on tv playing in the college world series. I am leaving in the morning and heading to Ashland, Kentucky, where I am going to meet up with Kristina. Kristina is giving me some autographed memorabiliaby her and the whole Chicago Bandits team for the Lions Club. She is having a pitching clinic in Ashland tomorrow. I am going to watch her clinic to learn more about pitching. Kristina has also told me that she would come here to Cynthiana to do a clinic also. Its people like Kristina that makes the game special. When I asked her if she would like to help out with raising money for the Lions Club, without hesitation, she said yes. Athletes that really care about other people and not just the game, really touches me. I would like to thank Kristina, C. Osterman, J.Finch, M. Smith, and L. Fernandez for their kindness. Please visit Kristina's website at www.kthorson.com.
  10. What a Feeling!

My daughter, who is going to be an 8th grader, plays for a travel team I coach. Today, she hit her first homerun. What a Feeling, especially when I was coaching 3rd base. She hit a shot over the fence in left center field. The fence was 200 ft. The ball went at least 25-30 ft. beyond the fence. It takes alot for me to be emotional, but I had tears in my eyes. This is what makes me coach, special moments like this. I'm sure alot of you coaches and dads have had the same feeling. If you haven't had this feeling yet, it really is something to look forward to.
