Efrain and Jason, Improving your running speed has more to do with proper technique and training than with your genes. Anyone can learn to run faster. The length of stride + the lenght of time between strides = speed. Sprints used in basketball, and baserunning speed are similar, but different. Court running is unidirectional (straight line), while baserunning often requires the additional skill of rounding bases. Both skills begin with explosive, out-of-the-hole power strides (head down, arms bent at right angles and pumping hard, short wide-apart strides for the first few steps, then into a more upright normal upright stride. There are many exercises used to improve running skills. Check-em out on-line, go to a book store or library, or get yourself into a running program. Good luck. PS: why are you still sitting there? Get outside and run!
