    William Cole asked:

How does sleep affect preformance in softball?

    Rose’s answer:

Our daughter works with professional coaches and has been told to always get 8 hours prior to play but to limit naps to waking up at least 2 hours prior to play (if napping between games) It does keep your mind focused and your stress level minimal.

    Corina Todd asked:

how do you talk to a mean teammate?

    Rose’s answer:

Explain to her that every player has different talents and that is what makes you a team. If all your teammates were exactly the same, with the same talents, you wouldn't be able to succeed on a ball field.

We are all experts, its just at differe... Continue reading »

    William Cole asked:

How Do You Properly Break In A Softball Glove?

    Rose’s answer:

Soak it down with Barbasol (old fashioned shaving cream), put a ball in the pocket, wrap with large rubber band or bungy cord and place under your mattress for three days and nights until it dries. Works GREAT.

    Rose’s answer:

Hold the bat straight up on the floor and the knob should hit directly at the hip bone. (For length) The player should be able to hold the bat with her strong hand (right hand if right handed) straight out in front of her body for 60 seconds without h... Continue reading »

    Rose’s answer:

My daughter is a catcher and we have had the same problem with complaints of her "hurting hands". We played her up in rec ball but finally resulted to travel ball. A much better fit for a strong arm. I would suggest to your catchers' and their parent... Continue reading »

    Keith Garrigan asked:

My son is afraid to stay in the box after getting hit, how do we work past this?

    Rose’s answer:

Get him a batting helmet with a cage on the front of it (you can buy them cheap at walmart) and take him to the batting cage, etc for lots of practice. Our daughter went through this. Help him to "trust his gear" to protect him. He is going to get h... Continue reading »

    Scott Evans asked:

Does anyone know what the -10 or -11 meens on the type of Fastpitch Softball bats. I am a new coach and I would like to know the answer.

    Rose’s answer:

It is the difference from the length and the weight. If the bat is 30 inches long and weighs 20 ounces, it is called a "Minus 10" bat. 32 inches long and 21 ounce weight, a "Minus 11" etc.
