should i do competative cheerleading or just focus on tumbling right now

    Victoria’s answer:

Do competitive cheerleading and if you find that it is too stressful with everything else in life go back to regular tumbling class. It's always nice to give yourself a challenge sometimes. Good luck and have fun. Merry Christmas.

    Erlinda Martinez asked:

Is it better to make the team stretch prior to their warm-up throws to reduce any pulled muscles??

    Victoria’s answer:

you should stretch before and after because it will keep ur muscles warm and ready to move

    1. Victoria,
On what research are you basing your advice? Stretching will not warm up your muscles or keep them warm. If you are going to do some type of stretching-static or dynamic, the muscles should be warmed up prior to that stretching.

    2. Dr. Ian Shrier, a McGill University sports medicine specialist, says stretching before a workout may, in fact, make muscles more vulnerable to injury by tearing their fibers. What's more, despite popular perceptions, nearly all workout strains and pulls occur not when a muscle hits its limit of extension but when it is contracting -- so widening its range of motion has no theoretical reason for reducing the chances of harm.

    3. Mike,
Thanks for your response. It's like pulling teeth to get even the most respected coaches and athletes to change their attitudes about stretching.
