My DD has played for 5 years. Last year her dad coached her and now she has lost all her enthusiasm to play. How do I help her get it back?

    Mike’s answer:

    1. Thank you for the feedback. I have tried some of these ideas but not all. The mentor idea is one that I have not tried. She just turned 14 and is going through some new things that I know are affecting her attitude but on the other hand she needs to learn to deal with them because they are not going to go away. She has told me she enjoys playing and watching the sport so I think my next step will be the mentor and see how that goes.
      Thanks again

    2. Good luck keep us posted would be nice to see how things go. It's interesting to note that a child's will to learn peaks from ages 7 -10 and tapers down to age 12 and almost completely closes from age 12-16. She fits right in that window were they are most resistent to change and learning. At age 16 the window starts to open again. I have found from talking to people in different areas of youth sports that 12-16 is when they really see a drop off in participation.
