I would start at a Recreation department close by first. Scott has the right idea.
That way you want have much money involved if they decide they don't like it.

I believe you need to just practice using it to get used to it before you actually try to use it in a game. Then , if it doesn't feel right or you are not batting good ,go back to a lighter bat. Good Luck!!
