Greetings and Salutaions

If you think about it, thru the course of one day, we greet and say hello to a number ofdifferent people. and if you think about it some more, the way we greet or say hello is just as varied. for example, there's the simple handshake hello, the "salute" hello or the pointingwith one finger " hey it's you! " hello.variations of the handshakes exist as well, going from theboring "hand slap" tothe intricate and meticulously choreographed hand gestures that's soo vaired and precise, you'd think you were communicating with sign language. for those of us where time doesn't permit because we're too busy, we can greet with the, "hey what's up?" or the"how areyou doing?" line as we quickly pass the person without really even paying attention to what the response was. but if we're really lazy (or we don't really like the person) we can just give the simple head nod or the bilateral eyebrow lift to acknowledge their presence and that we recognize who they arebut at the same time we might notbe sure who they really are orwe aren't too close to them because we eitherdon't know their name, we forgot their name or we just really don't care "how they're doing." then there's the ever favorite kiss hello. ranging in popularity from theteenage to the older woman, the unilateral cheek kiss is the ultimate way to say "hello." it's almost like saying, " yeah i know exactly who you are, i know your name, and i want to kiss you on the cheek because i'm soo happy to see you! " who would've thought that saying something as simple as "hello" would have its own underlying reason or how you greet someone could be subject to soo many different interpretations. with soo many different techniques and ways to greet someone, why is there still only one way to say, " goodbye? "

Hello Charmaine... It is truly a Joy to meet you... and I hope we will never have to say goodbye...
...maybe that's why there's only one way to say good bye...
