    SKILLS, SKILLS, SKILLS!.........Postion, means nothing if the kids don't have fundamental skills!.... This is true of any sport.

    My kids started skating at 2 and playing hockey at an instructional level at 3......Most kids are between 4&5 though. If they try to start much later then 7 or 8 they have a very difficult time.

    USA hockey lists youth hockey organizations (ice & in-line) across the country. You can also just inquire at your local rink as to what is available for him.
