Football Coach, Matt Carpenter, took up coaching youth sports six years ago. Since then, this father of three from Wake Forest, North Carolina, has coached football, basketball and baseball after playing multiple sports in high school and college. Coach Carpenter's dedication to the local football program, and his commitment to keeping competition positive have earned him the Weplay Coach of the Week award!

Coach Carpenter began coaching his two sons, Cross and Cais, on their Pop Warner and local football teams. Besides spending time with his children, Coach Carpenter wrote that he got involved because as a child he did not have access to youth sports programs in his small community.
He wrote, "I wanted to help both my kids, as well as others, enjoy the benefits of playing youth sports that I did not experience until later in High School and College."
Not only is he a great coach, but Coach Carpenter is a humble one too. The first thing he wrote when he found out about his nomination was that the entire coaching staff of the Wake Forest Titans should be recognized along with him.
For continually keeping the best interest of the kids in mind, a hearty thank you to fellow Titans Coaches: Head Coach, Mike Smedley; Offensive Coordinator, Ken O'Neill; Defensive Coordinator, Colby Stevens; and Assistant Coaches, Rob Adams, Rodney Farlow, Warren Mays and Eddie Campbell.
Coach Carpenter's "Key to Success"
He wrote, "I've found when coaching young kids, it very important to keep them active and engaged regardless of the sport. You have limited time with the kids and its important to keep them active to increase their learning."
Coach Carpenter also wanted to recognize his wife, Sandra, and his daughter, Emerson. He was very grateful for the honor and also thanked Weplay for creating a tool that allows him to organize and share his team success with parents and fans.
Congrats Coach Carpenter!
