Playing football for nearly 14 years, and coaching multiple sports, basketball for three years and football for four, Coach Roy Haslem Jr. has the experience and coaching wisdom to make him this week's Coach of the Week. Coach Haslem comes to us from Woodbridge, VA where he currently coaches the Patriots of the Dale City Sports Club.

As a member of USA Football and with his personal experience playing football from age five through the high school level, Coach Haslem brings his knowledge and passion for the game to his young players. Beyond the field and football know-how, he coaches through life experience and believes in teaching his kids about right and wrong, and helping them to grow as young men.
The Dale City Sports Club just celebrated its Opening Day on Saturday August 29th and each age group is pumped up for the season ahead! Go Patriots!
A few of the key qualities in a standout coach are his or her values and how he or she relates to players, serving as a role model and teacher. Coach Haslem demonstrates those characteristics and shared a few of his personal Coaching "Keys to Success" with Weplay:
*I believe every kid can be great at something on your team, and as a coach you have to find out what it is.
*Listen, you have to listen to your kids. I make sure I get to know all of them outside of the sport.
*School, I make sure I talk to my kids about school all the time. I tell them that school has to come 1st.
*I also teach my kids about respect and fair play for everyone.
Coach Haslem said he was very excited about this nomination, and that he couldn't wait to tell his team.
Thank you for your dedication to sports and helping young athletes grow as players, students, and people. Best of luck with the upcoming season from all of us at Weplay!
