I played pitcher and catcher because I feel its more of a one on one with the people on the base and the batter.

Start him right now, I would go with like having a family member just teach him how to play untill about 9 or 10 and put him on a team and he will be amazing if he sticks with it.

Go to your school thats the best place to signup, go to google and type in lacrosse (your area code) and see what camps and stuff come up.
