The Draft and American Idol

I'm back with just a few more thoughts I wanted to share because I realize I forgot to mention the other big thing that's happened since I last wrote.
The NFL Draft, which was a few weeks ago, makes me think back to my own Draft year in 2000. It was obviously really exciting for me and my family, though I can only say that now looking back on it because there also was some drama.
So I was projected to be a top pick that year, one of the top players in my position to get picked, but once a few guys started to get taken, I was worried about dropping and becoming one of those sad stories. You don't ever want to be the last guy picked, but someone has to be.
A few running backs started to get taken and I was just waiting to hear my name. From like the 8th to the 19th pick, it was kind of uncertain what was going to happen next. Of course, it all worked out in the end.
Just another story in my NFL career. Actually the first story of my NFL career.
I was probably in my sophomore or junior year of high school before I even thought about the NFL, maybe like 16 years old. I didn't dream about it as a kid like other people do. It just wasn't a part of what I thought about or why I played, you know. I was just enjoying the moment.
At some point, my football coaches mentioned the idea of getting a college scholarship and playing after high school. So I was already a teenager when the seed was planted in my mind and the NFL was something I began to think about.
Now here I am all these years later.
One last thing - something I've been getting really into. American Idol. I've watching it big time. I missed last night since I was on the road, but I've been recording the episodes and staying pretty updated. As we get down to the last few singers, I see it as a two horse race. I like young David the best, his voice has that older, soulful style. He can hit those notes, but sing anything no matter what he's given. And I also like the other David, the rocker. That's my 1-2 if I had to pick it now. I'll be watching.
Ok, have to get back to the kids, but thanks again for reading. The best part about the offseason is just getting to be a dad, making breakfast, playing hide-and-seek around the house with my girls and having fun. But it's not all relaxation. I've been working harder than ever this offseason, though I'll save that for my next update. In the meantime, I dug up some old newspaper clips and photos that my family saved from when I was younger. Hope you enjoy them. Will check back in soon.

great artice! keep up the hard work, and have fun at home
