After months of build-up and drama, 8-8-08 is finally here. I really love the Olympics and am excited to watch how all of the events unfold this year. I'd have to say that I love to watch the basketball games the most. It's the only sport where you have the top pros in the game allowed to compete, so it's like watching an All-Star Game where they put their whole heart into it and it's not just a show. As a runner, I also really like to watch the sprint events in track and field, the 100m, 200m, 400m and the relays. Every now and then, I'll catch some swimming or other events, but the Olympics typically fall right in the middle of preseason for us so the last few Olympics have been tough to follow that closely. More than anything, I love what the Olympics represents. To see the entire country rally around an athlete or a team is amazing. And I'm really a fanatic when it comes to sporting events involving our country. The patriotism just starts to come out of me and I get fired up. America versus anyone and I'll go all out. Sometimes I have to remind myself when I'm watching that it's just sports but I am crazy for my country. Time to root hard for the USA! What and who are you looking forward to watching?
