Roxy’s Bio
About Roxy
Hometown – San Diego, CA
About me – I am 21 years old. I was the Pitching Coach at Mesa College last year but due to work I had to put Coaching on hold!!!!! I have played softball since I was 10 years old and it has been my life. I am an outfielder/1st baseman and I am a closer (pitching),I don't throw really hard but I have a lot of moving pitches. I played travel ball most of my carrer, so the softball lifestyle has been my way of life for a long time. I truely love the game, but unfortunately for financial reasons I am unable to move on to play at a university. I got a few offers from schools out of state, but for me to take those I would have had to have them pay for almost everything. So my last season was this past 2008 season. I hit in the 4th spot and did pretty well. I hit .333 with 6 homeruns (2 were grandslams), I also broke a record at my school for hitting 2 Grandslams in 1 week! I am glad that my last season was a good one. I recently started coaching and I absolutely LOVE it! I have always known that I wanted to coach after I was done playing ball. I am currently giving hitting lessons and plan to do that until I finish nursing school. Then I plan to coach a travel team and give lessons. Overall I love the game and I will always be around it!
Dream job – Nurse/Softball Coach
Superstition – When I pitched, after my catcher threw the ball down, all of the infielders had to touch the ball and then the 1st baseman had to place the ball in my glove. (I know it's weird)
Favorites
Players – I definately have to say I love watching the USA softball team, I've been watching them since I was little. Dot Richardson was definately one of my favorites, and now I would have to say Jennie Finch, she has to be if not the best, one of the best softball pitchers ever! I know everyone says that but you have to give her props. The whole USA team is really great. Now with baseball I would have to say Tony Gwynn is definately my favorite. I wore his number (19) most of my softball carrer. I like Tony because he always got base hits and as a player that was my goal!
Teams – I like this Yankees but, I have to represent for the Padres and Chargers!
Quote – "Find strength in your moments of weakness" -Rascal Flatts
Movies – "A League of Their Own" and "Man on Fire"
Music – I like all types of music, literally!
Video games – None really
TV shows – ER, Will & Grace, CSI, ESPN
