    Matt Dillard asked:

Does anyone know of a 16 U fast pitch softball team that tries not to play on Sundays?

    Al’s answer:

I have 2 sisters on my team that won't play on Sunday for religious reasons. This is fine with me and I respect them for it. However, they will never advance because elite play requires Sunday play.

    1. Thanks for your input. My daughter doesn't want to play for religious reasons also. Its not that she wont ever play on sunday, she just want to try and limit it to 3 or 4 times a year

Our league has the infield fly rule in effect for 14U, all games are governed by ASA rules, confused, One ump called it 3 different ways???

    Al’s answer:

INFIELD FLY: A fair fly ball, not including a line drive or an attempted bunt which can be caught by an infielder, pitcher or catcher with ordinary effort when first and second or first, second and third bases are occupied with less than two outs. This... Continue reading »

    Jenny M asked:

How can I break my daughter's habit of leaning foward when she pitches? Take a look at her pic and let me know.

    Al’s answer:

When she practice, keep reminding her that she has to stand tall when she pitches. It also might be advisable to have her go to a clinic or camp during the summer or find a personal pitching coach to give her some lessons.

    asked:

I have a 8 yr old daughter who plays youth softball and just recently noticed that after she hits the ball she is throwing the bat as well.

    Al’s answer:

This is very common at this age. Many rec leagues have rules that if a batter throws the bat they are called out. What I have always told my girls is to take 2 steps after they hit the ball and drop the bat. I have also heard of putting a hula hoop on ... Continue reading »

    Braden asked:

how do you pitch a riser

    Al’s answer:

A riser would be impossible when pitching overhand. It is a pitch used in softball. Unless you throw a "submarine" pitch the angle of the pitch won't work.

    Andrew #66 asked:

i dont understand a balk and i am in majors what is a balk

    Al’s answer:

This is a good question Andrew and it is a long answer. Basicly, a balk is an attempt by the pitcher to deceive a base runner. Here are some links that will try to explain this as I don't want to type out the whole rule book :

    Madison asked:

How do i not get nervous when i bat!!!???

    Al’s answer:

Don't worry Madison, in softball failure is not measured the same as in other things You have to remember that if a major league ballplayer gets a hit 3 times out of 10, he's an all-star. Babe Ruth was for a long time the home run king but what most pe... Continue reading »

    Taylor H. asked:

ok well i hav an illegal bat 2 play in 4 tournaments.... y is it illegal??

    Al’s answer:

My first question Taylor is is it a softball bat? I have seen many kids try to use a baseball bat for softball, which is illegal. My next question is what rules do you play by? There are different rules for ASA, NSA, PONY, USSSA and other organizations... Continue reading »
