Hey everyone, especially all my weplay friends out there. Thanks so much for all of your questions and comments. Right now I'm here in Detroit for a weekend series with the Tigers. I always love coming here since this is where I grew up and knowing that I have friends and family in the crowd gives me an extra boost.
So I don't have too much time here since we have to get to the park, but wanted to get in and answer some of the questions you guys sent in and posted on my page. Then in a few days or so I'll get to a bunch more. Sound like a plan? Alright let's do it.
Question from McKinnley -- have you ever got hit by a pitch if so what did you do to stop thinking about getting hit your next time batting?
The answer is yes, I've been hit a lot. It's still in the back of your mind the next time at the plate, but you just have to focus on the next pitch, not the last one.
Chelsea wrote in - Hey I am a die hard softball player and this year I'm DH for the whole season and have been struggling a bit, because my confidence has gone down. Is there any way I can work at getting better?
You can't change anything that's happened up to this point, but you can take positives out of every performance going forward. Concentrate on what you're doing well rather than beating yourself up about mistakes, and get in extra batting practice whenever you can.
And I have to take this one from Ariel Epstein-- I have a question..... who inspired you to be a shortstop?
The answer is that it was my dad, because he was also a shortstop in college.
Erik Gaffron posted a question asking if my stance changed at all since little league.
You know, it hasn't changed that much. Everyone's stance is a little bit different, you just have to find something that makes you comfortable.
I know there are more questions out there and I'll check back in soon to answer some more. Keep them coming and take care. See you soon.

Thanks for answering!!!!!!!
derek i love watchingg you playy! =] i come to some saturday games at home. i am the biggest yankees fan in the world, i watch every single game that i can. =]
DEREK JETER your my IDLE!my question is do you ever wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and say to yourself "i am the captain/shortstop of the New York Yankees" does it ever seem too good to be true?i hope my quesion stands out enough.-Mrs.Jeter
Thankyou so much for answering! Great Game today by the way ! YANKEES WON !!! GO YANKEES!!!
What steps did you take to become the baseball player you are today?
That was an awsome game today that must be awsome hitting homeruns, throwing people out, catchung pop flys, and being on the T.V.
By any chance do you remember me from pace college?
This is my second year of playing girl's softball and I usually play at short or third. Since you are my favorite player on my favorite team, I want to know if you have any pointers on how to be the best shortstop I can be?
Dude, I'm so happy for you today! Congrats to your first homer of this season!! Hope there are more to come!!! By the way, I still would like to know if you know how to dance, specially Merengue?
I was looking at you're shedule for you're team to play and I see that you can work for 7 days until you're day off and then it will be 9 days until you're next day off then another time you can work two week until you're next day off. Next Pages
How do you stay strongt for the team? Do you get happy when the time for All- Star come up to get some more time off to sleep some?
Let's win again next game
What are your thoughts on the All Star Game "counting" for WS home field advantage? Granted, the AL typically wins, so it's advantageous, but many are opposed to it. Your thoughts?
what goes through your head when your up to bat with a tough pitcher and a nice fastball comes then you crank it to the upper deck?
Do you think you be in a big time movie ever?
Derek, your the best shprtstop ever in the world. I've always watched you play ever since you started playing for the Yankees. Where ever you'll go, I'll go.
i was wondering..if the Yankees lose a game, lets say to ur rivals the Red Sox, how does it feel being the Captain?
