Falling Back into the Routine

Hey everyone, I'm back and sorry to have been gone for so long. It's been a few weeks since the season ended and I've been laying low and just resting up from the long season. I was on vacation, did some traveling, met up with and visited friends and family and am finally back in the Big Apple.
Now that I'm back, I've been catching up some things with my foundation, helping to plan some upcoming events and checking back in with my weplay friends. So many questions and comments I don't even know where to begin. I guess I should start with som older questions and wanted to get to those first. I'll then get to some of the newer ones in a few days. I guess it's my own fault for letting it go as long as I did...
Records come and go, but where does breaking Lou Gehrig's record for career hits at Yankee Stadium stand for you? -Devon, Bronx, N.Y.
It was very special to me. Anytime your name is mentioned alongside a legend like Lou Gehrig's, it's something special. Records are made to be broken, but this one at least, will always stand at the old Yankee Stadium.
How do you think Yankee fans and baseball fans alike will deal with the closing of Yankee Stadium? Does this represent an end to chapter of your life? -Gennifer, Rye, N.Y.
Yes, it definitely does. I grew up in Yankee Stadium so it feels strange knowing I won't be going back there in 2009, but the fans are what really made the place special. Their excitement will make our new stadium feel like home on Opening Day.
Hi Derek, Will any of your family members be attending these last few home games? - Phillip, Troy, MI
My entire family was there for the last home stand and it made the games even more special for me. My parents and sister Sharlee have always been such big supporters that I can't imagine them not having been there for the final home game.
What up, Big D! What are you plans for the off-season? Lots of commercials to shoot? What else do you do to relax? -Loni, Fort Myers, FL
Believe it or not, the offseason goes by really quickly. I take a little time to relax or to travel, and then I start working out again after about six weeks so I'm already back into my routine now.
Which reminds me... Gotta get going. I'm going to head out to work out now, but I'll be back...

What advice would you give a father if all his son thinks and dreams about is playing MLB. He is 13 and wants to play year round 60 or so games a year. Is that too much?

Hey Derek! glad to hear from you. Hope you're having an awesome offseason. So how do you feel about Moose's retirement? I'm really going to miss him. I wish he would've stayed a little longer and gotten a ring and 300 wins.
=) [#4 fan-Carolina]
I hope you did not watch any movies to relax! That favorite movie of yours sounds like one over-the -top prison movies. But you know, actors love those kinds of films. Just don't ask me to watch it. More "Pride of the Yankees" type movies!
i am not a yankee fan but i like you. your a good player and have a good heart/personality. My whole family like the yankees. my dad is a boston fan and my mom is a yankee fan wierd. i dont understand.
Hi Derek! Glad to hear you had a good long season and had fun traveling. You deserve it! But you are always missed when you are out of the spotlight! Good to hear from you my friend! Things will be very different now in the new stadium! Definitely!

I was wondering, when you were about 13/14, did you play little league or travel ball?
I am starting 2 get ready 4 this baseball season and my dad has told me about when u were in high school u came home everyday at lunch 2 hit off the tee. Do u think that is the best thing 2 do 2 help ur swing? Do u have anything else that helps u hit betr
