Hi everyone. We're headed down to LA and being on the road usually gives me a chance to catch up on things here on weplay.
I have to say I'm blown away by all your support. Not a game goes by without a host of Weplay friends leaving encouragement, advice and comments. Or course, I can't not mention the questions. I'll hit on those next time, but what stands out is your excitement about the hits record.
Being a Yankee fan growing up and then playing here I've learned a thing or two about Lou Gehrig. What sticks with me is how he played the game. Day in and day out he always was out there playing. And, playing like a professional. That's often overlooked and really hard to do. Consistency is what I think all players should strive for.
Yet this is a team game. I appreciate the honor it is to be mentioned with Mr. Gehrig and I will look back at the past two weeks in awe of everyone's support, but my advice is to focus on the team. You win as a team and lose as team. That's the same with the Yankees as much as any youth program. At this stage in your games that's what really matters. Being a good teammate.
Thanks again, have fun and keep practicing.
Dear Derek-
Thanks for dropping us a line. I do agree we win as a team and lose as a team.
Im so proud of you in passing the great lou Gehrig. I love that you are a team player. I love that you have been able to be so consistent.
I also think it is so i
important to always support your teammates. this is one of the parts of your game i like the most. You are always first one out to support the guys.
Best of luck in the stretch run as we lead into the playoffs. God bless lets sweep those angels . love jen
Congratulations on the honor of passing Lou Gehrig. And I enjoyed reading your comments regarding the importance of prioritizing team over individual accomplishments. Great thing for kids, coaches, and parents to hear.

Hi Derek, u r so right about that. Team work does it all the time. My coach always tell us that there's no "I" in team and therefore its a teamwork effort that we all must bring to the table. Its not a game like Golf, or even Tennis where u gather ur own
Stats and so forth. I commend u on ur leadership role that u play on ur team and outside of baseball. Way to pause for a moment and let the record marinate a bit so to speak. Also, it sure is an honor to be mention w/ a great leader indeed. Way 2 go in rec
Its a wonderful thing to have ur name amongst some of the great as Lou Gehrig. Honestly,I see a lot of ur characteristics in him as u have mention a few things about Mr.Gehrig.Well,keep doing what u r doing Derek and lets go get the Angels n get some WINS
That's awesome!
Congrats again on breaking the record. ur so amazing and i cant wait until ur nxt game! i love to watch u play! The Yankees r gnna dominate the playoffs!!

Congrats Derek! not many of us were alive to witness Yankee greats such as Ruth, Mantle and DiMaggio play, but watching you play feels like we are. You're a Yankee legend. we're sooo lucky to have you :D good luck to you and the Yankees in the playoffs :)
Derek congrats on your record, and also congrats to ALL of the Yankees for winning the 2009 AL East Division.I will keep praying to all bring the rings this year.I might have lost my job, but my Yankees will keep going strong! :0) I am so proud of y'all!
Dear Mr. Jeter,
Thanks for playing the game the right way and being such a good role model. It means a lot to be able to look up to a professional athlete who plays hard, respects the game, and never gives up. Again, thanks. -Molly H.
Here's to the Greatest Yankee Team ever!!!
Go Jeter and the New York Yankees!!!

Dear Derek, "Ditto" on all of the above. You are phenominal but not only at baseball but a person. I read your book to my 2 girls to inspire them the way you were inspired by your parents. I saw you in May in Cleveland-took many pictures of you!
Derek, we're all jealous. Everyone wants to be you!
Hey derek most people wouldn't care abut there fans butyou are amazing to us thanks so much and God bless you hope you eat the twins in game 2 -mary cate
Congrats on beating the record. But Lou Gehrig is like a saint to me- My father died when I was six with a disease close in symptoms to ALS. My mom said he liked football but I bet he liked baseball like me-she lies a lot!
hey derek,
great homerun last night against the Angels. I thought at first that was an early birthday present from u, but it probably wasnt. ^_^
Hi Derek, i have coaches that don't want me to play for the high school team, i play his sons position and my stats are better, but im on his team and he doesn't play me at all! I love the game, practice everyday have less errors. How do i overcome this?
Derek Jeter, man your skills are amazing, it sucks you got all those haters though.
Anyway I was wondering if you have any Hitting Tips?
Congrats on the World Seris!!!!
congrats on the world series, i got 2 questions. why when i play high school ball is my confidence so low. in practice i hit the ball real well. in game its 1-2-3 strikeout. i got a couple hits last season. was mainly a defensive player. 2. do u play ps3?
Hey DJ,
Congrats on the hits record and of course, the World Series!! Wish I could've been there for the game & parade!! You're a great role model, team player & class act...have a great off-season & I look forward to next year!
Derek,
Congratulations on the World Series, from another Yankee fan who grew up in Michigan. I was proud to wear the Yankee logo all year, but it really paid off during this playoff run. Those videos will come in handy for coaching this offseason.
Guess what Derek Jeter! :)
I'm sixteen years old today.
And you've been a big part in making last year so special.
Congratulations on your WS win, I must say, I've missed being able to turn on MLB and watch them Yankees :( we miss you guys!
-Alexis
