    Ariana Mckenzie asked:

I am right defender in the select u-12 age group and i was woundering what sretches will increase the distance your throwens go?

    LaShanna’s answer:

Hi Ariana! We tend to do typical upper body stretches. But, to increase the strength behind the throw in, I have my players do pushups and work with a slightly heavier ball like a basketball. And just to make it fun, I have them play Basketball games ... Continue reading »

    Abby Wolfe asked:

What position do you like better?? Center, one of the defenders or wings, or goalie??

    LaShanna’s answer:

Defense, from there you have it all: the ability to defend the goal and help the Keeper; The option to bring it up to help in the attack; and/or the thrill of scoring from defense. If you're playing it right, defense can own every match.

    asked:

HI. I am a first time coach in a non-competitive 5/6 yo leage. Any suggestions on how to deal with ball hogs?

    LaShanna’s answer:

U6 is a wonderful age, soccer is very new and it's all about the ball. It will be very hard to get the kids to pass right now, so you should encourage ball familiarity. If they're going to "keep the ball" they should learn how. Teach them how to dribbl... Continue reading »

    LaShanna’s answer:

Ahem, GO Saints! I can't help it. As a true Lion's Fan, I can't help but LOVE the underdog.

    Melanie Curry asked:

Any suggestions on preventing illness from getting in our huddles?

    LaShanna’s answer:

All of the above ideas are great with this one suggestion, keep the team from spitting "in our home". Meaning no spitting on the pitch, the ball is in play on the pitch and the ball has to be picked up sooner or later.

    Ronnie Wardlow asked:

How does someone change from fan to coach?

    LaShanna’s answer:

Since you're already a fan...become a student. I started out by checking out books, online sites and then I took courses. A coach is always learning and evolving since the game is always changing. Good Luck!

    1. Oh no, I meant how do you change your status on weplay from a fan to a coach. My sister joined my group and she is another coach but it didn't ask her if she was a coach so now it says fan/parent next to her name.
