About me – HEAD COACH, CALIFORNIA BEARCATS Anthony Wright was born in California, raised in Ohio and is now back home leading youth in the Golden State. He's made a pretty good name for himself as a youth football coach for the Burbank Vikings, and is now coaching basketball in Southern California as well. As a way to give back to the place he's called home, he did what a lot of other former student-athletes do to express their love for sports: He started the California Bearcats Basketball Club. This is the first season for the "Cali Cats", which will bring boys ages 14 and under together from Burbank and the surrounding areas. Unlike a lot of clubs, this is not going to be all about basketball. Players will enroll in mandatory courses to learn basic life skills and how to be a student-athlete both on and off the court. "We stress education for our players," says Coach Wright. "We want the kids to know that not everyone is going to be a professional athlete, however, they can use their athletic and academic ability to attain a scholarship for college".
