    asked:

how do you know which direction to block on offense accordding to the name of the play

    Bill’s answer:

The better teams will have blocking rules- TKO,GOD, Etc. If not general rule would be put your head between the defender you are blocking and the hole that is called. Example to follow up on Rick's post. If you are the right tackle on a 36 blast, you ... Continue reading »

    Michael Wysocki asked:

When do you allow a child to begin playing tackle football so that they're not too young but also don't get too far behind?

    Bill’s answer:

I would like to see these articles if you have a link. I have not seen a blown out knee in elementary school aged kids playing football. Remember if your child is playing with other kids his age and approx same weight the force at which they hit is not... Continue reading »

    Kevin Washington asked:

What kind of drills/defense can I run to help my 2nd grade team contain the outside runs/sweeps?

    Bill’s answer:

One thing I forgot to mention. I would put the kids in a 2 point stance with the inside leg up. Reason being his first step will be with his outside leg helping his first motion to be outside. This takes lots of reps with young kids, make sure they rea... Continue reading »

    John Wick asked:

My son plays peewee. He needs to ratchet up his intensity and become a harder hitter in practice to get more playtime. How do I help him?

    Bill’s answer:

Shaun's right. Give it time. You can rep the proper form for tackling, doing fit freeze. How most good coach's progress is, they start with fit/freeze, going through each step of the tackle, over and over and over and over again. Then they start the li... Continue reading »

    Bob Palmer asked:

I would like to run the Single Wing Offense for (7-8 yr olds) I realize I will need a very skilled Center to snap the ball Shotgun.

    Bill’s answer:

I have seen it at the 8-9 year old age. You hit the nail on the head, center is key. The hard part is finding a center that can handle knowing a noseguard is going to hit him as soon as he snaps it. I saw a team start out just rolling the ball back to ... Continue reading »

    Mike Rowland asked:

We have a play that consists of a inside hand-off to the Rb from the Qb and the rb then throws a down field pass. Is this a legal pass play?

    Bill’s answer:

I have a game tonight I will ask the official. I did read in the NCAA rules a clause that says as long as it is a handoff(not a toss) it is considered a handoff (not a pass) as long as it is behind the line of scrimmage.
