What browsers does Weplay support?
We strive to create the best viewing experience for all of our users. Weplay continually tests in and fully supports the following Web browsers:
  • Internet Explorer 7, 8, and 9 – used by 72.3% of our members and visitors
  • Mozilla Firefox 3 and 4 – used by 9.4% of our members and visitors
  • Safari 5 – used by 6.9% of our members and visitors
  • Chrome - used by 5% of our members and visitors
While we can't fully support every available browser, we do regularly monitor our traffic to maintain optimum performance for the majority of our users. If you are viewing the site with an unsupported browser and find the experience less than satisfactory, please send us feedback, as well as consider using the latest version of one of the fully-supported browsers.
Cookies must be enabled to use Weplay. What are cookies and how do I enable them?
What is a Cookie? A cookie is a small amount of data, often including an anonymous unique identifier, which is sent to your browser from a Web site’s computers and stored on your computer’s hard drive. The use of cookies enables us to improve our Site by seeing which areas and features are most popular; to count the number of computers accessing the Site; to personalize the Site and improve the Site experience; to record your preferences and track the ads you view; to track your transactional information; and to allow you to visit the Site without re-entering your member ID and/or password.
  • Enabling Cookies in Internet Explorer (IE) 6:
    • Select “Internet Options” from the Tools menu.
    • Click on the “Privacy” Tab.
    • Select “Settings” and click the “Default” button located at the bottom.
    • Click “OK” to apply changes.
  • Enabling Cookies in Internet Explorer (IE) 7.0+:
    • Go to “Tools” in the menu bar
    • Click on “Options”
    • Click on “Privacy” Tab on top
    • Click on “Advanced" button
    • Select "Prompt" for both "First party cookies" and "Third Party Cookies"
    • Click “OK” to apply changes.
  • Enabling Cookies in Firefox (Windows and Mac):
    • From the top menu bar, open the Tools menu (Windows) or the Firefox menu (Mac ). When a drop-down menu appears, pick Options for Windows and Preferences for a Mac.
    • Click on the Privacy icon. Look for the box labeled Cookies.
    • Check the box next to “Accept Cookies From Sites.” Scroll through the menu next to the words “Keep Until” and choose the appropriate option.
    • Finally, to enable cookies in Firefox click “OK” for Windows or close the preferences box for a Mac.
  • Enabling Cookies in Safari
    • Click on the menu bar.
    • Click on the “Preferences” icon and proceed to click the “Security” icon.
    • Select/deselect option “Accept cookies: select Radio button "only from sites you navigate to" on requirement.
    • Click “OK” to apply changes.

User Account

I forgot my password. What now?
Please visit the forgot password page. You will then be able to reset your password once you enter your username or e-mail and security question answer.
I’m a member under the age of 13 and forget my username. What do I do?
You or your parents can send us an e-mail with your birth date, location and an e-mail address to get back to you. We'll locate your account information and e-mail your username to you.
How do I update my name, location or favorite sport?
At the top of any page, click the “Account” link next to your username. Proceed to click the “Account Info” option to update your personal information.
How do I subscribe or unsubscribe from weplay, group or friend e-mail notifications?
At the top of any page, click the “Account” link next to your username. Proceed to click the “Email Preferences” tab to adjust your e-mail notifications.
How do I change my password?
At the top of any page, click the “Account” link next to your username. Proceed to click the “Change Password” option to update your password.
How do I update my e-mail address?
At the top of any page, click the “Account” link next to your username. Proceed to click the “Change E-mail” option to update your e-mail address
How do I change my secret question?
At the top of any page, click the “Account” link next to your username. Proceed to click the “Change Secret Question” option to select a new question.

Profiles

What’s the difference between my profile and home page?
  • Your profile contains information viewable by your friends on weplay. This includes your avatar, details, recent activity, comments, blog, schedule, pics and videos, friends and groups.
  • Your homepage is your control panel to connect with friends, groups, coaches and pro athletes. Update your details, view the latest activities of your friends and groups, find new friends and groups.
Can anyone see my profile?
Yes. However, only your friends will be able to leave comments and you will have privacy options for your photos and videos where you can select to make them visible only to your weplay friends.
What are the privacy options for my photos and videos?

You have the option to make your photos public or visible only to your friends. The following options are available for each photo or video you upload:

  • Everyone – The photo / video can be viewed by anyone visiting your profile. The photo can also be nominated by you for the Weplays of the Month contest.
  • Friends only – The photo / video can only be viewed by you and your friends.
How do I update my bio?
On your homepage, click the "Edit my bio" link on the left side of the page. You can also click the “Account” link next to your username at the top of any page. Proceed to click the “Edit Bio” option to adjust your personal information and favorites.
How do I change my avatar?
You can upload or select a new image to use as your personal avatar within the “Gallery” page on your profile. Go to an album and click the image you wish to make your avatar. Proceed to click the "Set as my avatar" link located just below the bottom right of the image.

Note: Avatars are public images used throughout the site, so "Friend only" images cannot be used as avatars. When uploading a photo be sure your media privacy is set to “Visible to everyone.”
Can I rearrange my profile modules?
You’re the architect. You can drag and drop any profile module by scrolling over the title and left-clicking with your mouse. However, you will not be able to move your avatar. This allows us to keep a little consistency on the site, so your friends always know where to find your details.
Can I change my profile address/URL?

Your profile URL (World Wide Web address) uses the username you entered during sign up. There is not an option to change your profile URL.

Group or team profiles can be accessed at custom URLs such as "your-team-name.weplay.com." This feature is only available to upgraded teams. Learn more about upgrading your team.

How many items (and what) display on my activity feeds?

On your profile, up to 10 of your latest activities will display on the “Recent Activity” module. On your homepage, up to 15 of your friend or group activities will display on the "Recent Activity" module. You will receive activity notifications when:

  • A friend makes a new friend
  • Two friends of yours become friends
  • A friend joins a group you do or do not belong to
  • A non-friend joins a group you belong to
  • A friend or group you belong to uploads photos or videos
  • A friend or group you belong to adds a new blog/news post
  • A friend or group you belong to changes their avatar
  • A group you belong to adds or updates an event
  • A group you belong to adds a discussion topic
  • A group you belong to links with another group
  • A friend creates a group
How many photos or videos can I upload?
Each profile is provided with 1GB of storage space for photos and videos.

Family Accounts

What’s a family account?

A family account is an optional feature add-on for weplay parents with children less than 13 years of age. Parents can connect with and manage their children by associating an existing child account or creating a new child account.

I'm a parent. How do I create a family account and connect with my kids?
  • If you’re not a weplay member, you will need to create a free account.
  • If you’re already a member, click the "Add my child" link on the left side of your homepage. This will allow you to connect to your kids already on weplay or create new accounts.

Friending

How do I find or add friends?
Easy. You can search for people in our general site search (top of any page). When you locate a person you wish to friend, click the “become a friend” button on their profile.
Can I privately message my friends?
Absolutely. Private messages can be sent by clicking the "Write a friend" link on the left hand side of your home page. You can also post a public message to your friend on your friends' profile page.
Can I remove friends?
Yes. To remove a friend, visit your friend's profile page and click the “Remove friendship” link under their avatar (top left).

Group Overview

What is a weplay group?
A weplay group is a simple collaborative and organized communication utility for 2 or more participants. Groups currently provide an event calendar, member list, news blog, photo and video gallery, and comments/guestbook.
Who can create a group?
Any member is free to create a group with the exception of unapproved children less than 13 years of age. The member who creates a group is referred to as the lead group organizer.
What types of groups can I create?
We offer "groups" and "teams." Choose whichever is most appropriate for your situation. Members often create Weplay groups for tournaments, camps, officials, and families.
Are there differences between groups and teams?
Yes. Team groups provide the option to add games (and scores) to the calendar as well as assign member roles. A member can be assigned as one or more of the following: Player, Parent, Coach, or Fan.
Are there group privacy settings? Can anyone join a group?

Group organizers can select what content to display on a group's public page. Your public page is how people who aren't members of your group see your group. Group membership can be public or approval required.

  • Public - Any weplay member can freely join your group.
  • Approval required - Any weplay member can request to join the group. Group organizers have the option to accept or reject the request.

Group organizers also have the option to prohibit group members from uploading media or adding events. Click the "Edit this group" link on your group profile (under avatar) to adjust the group's member permissions or public page.

Items to note:

  • Selected modules on public pages that do not have content will only display to group organizers.
  • Non members will need to become a group member to view and interact with any content listed on the public page.
How many photos or videos can be uploaded to a group?
Each group is provided with 1GB of storage space for photos and videos.

Group Organizers

How do I invite people to join my group?
Click the "Invite friends to join group" button on the top right of your group profile page. This will provide access to invite your weplay friends as well as add e-mail addresses to invite non members. You have the option to create a custom invite message.
How many organizers can my group have?
Basic groups have a single organizer. Upgraded groups can share organizer privileges among as many team collaborators as desired. Teams with multiple organizers report smoother seasons and more engaged members. Find out more about upgrading your group.
How do I assign other organizers to help me out?
Upgrade your group to take advantage of this feature. The group's lead organizer can assign other organizers by clicking the "Edit organizers" link under the avatar on the group profile to designate one or more group members as a general organizer or assign a new lead organizer.
Can I remove a member or change member roles for my group?
  • Removing a member: When viewing your "Member" or "Roster" page, the option to remove a member is provided on each member listing.
  • Changing a member's role (available only for Team groups): When viewing your "Roster" page, click the "edit" link (provided on each member listing) to add or remove a member role. A member can be assigned as one or more of the following: Player, Parent, Coach, or Fan.
Who can add events to the calendar?
Depends on the lead group organizer’s preference. They have the option to allow any group member or only organizers to add events.
Who can post messages to my group?
You can control who is able to post messages to your group. Click the "Edit this group" button on your group profile to reach the group's settings page. Under "Who can post messages," choose "All members" or "Organizers only."
How many items (and what) display on the group activity feed?
Up to 10 of the latest notifications will display on the "Group Activity" module. Activity notifications reflect the group's recent activity, including when:
  • Group adds a new member
  • Group avatar changes
  • Group has a new message
  • Events are scheduled
  • A new discussion is started
  • Photos or videos are added
  • New comments are posted to photos or videos
  • Group links with another group
Who can add photos and videos?
All group organizers and members can add photos and videos. Organizers will have the ability to remove content as they see fit.
Who can leave comments on my group?
All group organizers and members can post comments on the group profile, photos or videos.
Can I rearrange my group modules?
You're the architect. You can drag and drop any group module by scrolling over the title and left-clicking with your mouse. However, you will not be able to move your avatar module. This allows us to keep a little consistency on the site, so your members and visitors always know where to find group details.
Can I edit my group avatar/logo?
You can upload or select a new image to use as your group avatar within the "Gallery" page on your profile. Go to an album and click the image you wish to make your avatar. Proceed to click the "Set as my group avatar" link located just below the bottom right of the image.

Note: "Group member only" images cannot be used as avatars. When creating or editing the album containing your avatar, make sure your media privacy is set to “Visible to everyone.”
Can I edit settings or delete my group?
Yes. Click the "Edit this group" button on your group profile to edit the name, description, location, privacy and event options. To remove your group entirely, please send us a message.
Can I change my group address/URL?

Your group URL (World Wide Web address) uses the group name you entered when you created your group. Update this name by clicking the “Edit this group” button on your group profile.

Prefer a custom URL? Upgraded groups can specify a custom address such as "your-team-name.weplay.com." Just click "Weplay URL" from your group's settings page. Find out more about upgrading your group.

Linking Groups

How is linking groups of use to me?
  • Stay connected with your affiliates, friends, camps, tournaments or any group you find interesting.
  • If you’re a league or parent organization, you can separate out your official groups from other linked groups.
How do I link up with another group?

Group organizers can request to link up with any group on weplay. You can also link up with other groups you manage.

  • Go to a group's profile page and click on the "Link My Group" button under the logo/avatar.
  • If the group organizer accepts your link request, your groups are now linked. Groups you manage and choose to link are automatically linked without the need for approval.
  • You can remove a linked group as well as reconnect at any time.
How and where will linked groups display?
  • Linked groups are listed as a separate tab as well as on a new "Linked Groups" module on your group’s profile. This module will display up to 8 groups, first listing your "Official Linked Groups."
  • You can prominently display "Official Linked Groups" separately.
  • You can change the name "Official Linked Groups" to anything you like. The list is still displayed first on the page.
How do I select official groups and receive linked group news?

To manage which groups are official and news you wish to receive, go to the "Linked Groups" page and click the "Manage Linked Groups" button (top right).

  • If you check "Receive News" on the "Manage Linked Groups" page, new news items show up in your group's activity feed on the group profile.
  • New news items will also display in a separate "Linked Group News" list on your "Group News" page.
  • Your group members aren't directly notified on their homepages. If they want to get notifications, they should join the linked group.
  • You can turn receiving news on and off at any time on the "Manage Linked Groups" page.

Group Members

How do I find and join groups?
Easy. You can search for groups directly from the search box at the top of any page.
Can I invite people to groups I belong to but don’t organize?
Yes. You can Invite Your Weplay Friends and e-mail invites to your colleagues, teammates, family and friends to join your groups. Click the "Invite Friends to Group" button on the upper right corner of your group profile or member/roster page. When a person accepts your invitation, they'll automatically be connected with your group.
Can I add events?
This depends on the lead group organizer’s preference. They have the option to allow any group member or only other organizers to add events.
Can I post messages to my group?
This depends on the lead group organizer’s preference. They have the option to allow any group member or only other organizers to add messages or replies.
Can I add photos and videos?
Yes. All group members can add photos and videos. Members can also comment on photos and videos.
What are the privacy options for group photos and videos?

You have the option to make group photos public or visible only to your group. The following options are available for each photo or video you upload:

  • Everyone – The photo / video will appear on your group and can be viewed by non-members and members. The photo can also be nominated by you for the Weplays of the Month contest.
  • Group only – The photo / video will appear in your group and can only be viewed by you and your fellow group members.
