A Real Soccer Mom's Story

by Weplay, posted May 17 2011

In this episode of Become we meet Mayla. She’s put herself through school and works full-time as a waitress so she can give her daughter the opportunity to play soccer at the club level. She knows it’s her job to set a good example for her kids so they don’t follow the same path she did.

Wow, great story. Brought back memories of my daughter tearing her ACL as a sophomore in high school, and blowing out her ankle as a senior, tough tough things for any young athlete (and parent) to deal with.

Aubrey is very impressive. As a 32 year veteran in education, I don't see that many young athletes with this type of maturity and attitude. If she continues to keep her priorities straight, works hard, and keeps some sense of balance in her life, she will go far. Life just has a way of paying back those who commit themselves to excellence.

    Again, great story!!!

I also work as waitress (full time) YMCA after school program, RoadRunner hockey games (wait tghe prime seats in exchange for fee doallrs for son to play), and kull auctions. I am the Topeka Yth Hockey High school team director and a 4H volunteer.

As long as he does something that’s from the heart that will make him happy, I’ll be good.
