Two-Team Parent Sets the Bar

By Kim White

If there was a job description for what it takes to be a Team Parent, we all know organization would be at the top of the list and Terrina Thomas certainly fits the mold. Working as the manager of one team might seem like a challenge to some, but Thomas handles two teams with ease. The ability to juggle her role as a two-team mom, the responsibilities of a full time job, and her family duties are what makes Thomas our Team Parent of the Week.

Thomas manages both the boys and girls basketball team at the Star of the Sea Catholic School. Her husband, Lincoln, is the coach for the girls team. Her son Seth 9, plays on the Midget Boys 2 team while her daughter Cady 11, plays on the Junior Girls 1 team. As of the writing of this article both her son and daughter’s teams are undefeated. Thomas tells us that she’s so proud and fortunate to be surrounded by such a wonderful group of coaches, players, and their families.

When Thomas is not enjoying her time as manager of these two Star of the Sea teams, she’s the coach of the Stars field hockey team and on top of all that our busy team mom spends her days working for a hospital organization. Thomas loves being a part of her kids activities because with her full time job and the the family’s busy schedule, it a those special times that she really enjoys.

Weplay has been the perfect outlet for this very organized team parent of the week. “Weplay has given us a forum to load pictures, post scores, send reminders and give props to our teams in a fun and easy way!” writes Thomas. Her favorite feature on Weplay is the fireworks prop because all of her players love receiving them.

Terrina Thomas' Recommendations for Fellow Team Parents:

  • Get your families on board with Weplay early. They may think it’s going to be hard and time consuming but assured that it is very easy.

  • Keep up with scores and posts. Once you get your families on board, they’ll need something to look at so try to keep all your team posts up to date.

  • Take all of the “paperwork” off the coaches. This helps the coaches free up time to focus on the team, which is why we are all there in the first place.

Show your Team Parent how much you care, nominate them today!

You're the best! A well deserved recognition for someone who does so much and makes youth atheletics a great experience for everyone involved.
