When it comes to Ohio’s Pro sports teams, the Tepe family are super fans. But Karen Tepe, her husband and children are also active in sports at the community level. In fact, it’s hard to find Karen, our Team Parent of the Week, outside a practice field or court.
It’s not hard to see why. A mother of three, Alexandra,15, Jared, 11, and Ava, 7, Tepe’s children are involved in no less than six sports throughout the school year. From football, soccer and for the first time this year, lacrosse - the family defines the on-the-go sports family.
Over the years, Tepe has stepped up as team mom for five teams including: SVTM Football, STM Cardinal Basketball 5th Grade, GEYB Thunder and Kings Soccer Academy U8 Red. Hello super mom! Good thing she’s using Weplay as her all-in-one destination for team management, recognition and rewards. Just this year, she even set up the Weplay SVTM football group as a central communication hub for all seven teams in the program.

With such a large number of SVTM players, it’s hard to believe the program is in it’s rookie year. Kids ranging from 1st to 8th grade, along with numerous parents and volunteers united early to build a new football field in the pre season. The results, a championship winning SVTM team and a runner up in another bracket. As you can imagine Tepe has been an uber proud team mom this season and is looking forward to many successful years to come.
Congratulations on your Team Parent of the Week recognition. Any team that is lucky enough to have you as a team mom is sure to have a great season.
Karen Tepe’s Recommendations for Fellow Team Parents:
Get folks to sign up for Weplay! Once they find out how easy it is to use, they’ll be hooked!
Be organized. The coaches and parents on your team will rely on you to have accurate information and be their link to the coach.
Keep parents involved! The key to any successful program is the support of all of the parents.
In this episode of Become we meet Paula. A single mom with 4 kids, Paula manages to hold down multiple jobs and be there for her kids every step of the way. Whether it's her support in sports or in schoolwork, she knows putting in time with her kids is her number one priority and she wouldn't have it any other way.
As long as he does something that’s from the heart that will make him happy, I’ll be good.
