Team Camaraderie can Last a Lifetime

By Kim White

Chemistry and camaraderie are two important factors on any youth sports team. Once a bond is formed, the memories and friendships developed throughout the season can last a lifetime. The LCP Badgers Mitey Mite cheer squad, who have been together for three years, are lucky enough to have secured a strong connection early on.

The glue holding the Badgers together is Team Mom Colleen Early, from Austin, TX. The 29-year-old stay at home mom has a keen ability to bring out the best in her athletes. Her unending support and positive attitude are just two reasons why she is Weplay’s Team Parent of the Week.

“I’m almost speechless,” wrote stay at home mom Early, when she had found out she was named Weplay’s Team Parent of the Week. A recent newlywed, this honor has added another layer of excitement in her life.

Indeed, husband Aaron and their kids Hayli Merka, 9, a Badgers cheerleader, and son Dillan Early, 3, are big supporters of mom. Early loves getting the whole family involved with the team. For her, it’s all about creating an encouraging atmosphere.

For this reason, Early treats each cheerleader as if they were a member of her own family. Her best resource - good communication, which is why she uses Weplay. “It’s so convenient to pop into Weplay and have everything right there!” wrote Early describing Weplay’s team utility tools. Using Weplay to stay connected with her team outside of practice and competition has boosted her ability to recognize, reward and encourage each athlete like never before.

Colleen, many congrats on a well deserved recognition and your recent wedding.

Colleen Early’s recommendations for fellow Team Parents:

1.) Communicate as often as you can and always be available to answer questions.

2.) Be positive at all times and maintain a smile on your face.

3.) Be supportive of your coaches and always keep them informed of feedback from parents.
