A Strong Fundamental Approach

by Kirk Mango, posted February 22 2011

I talk a lot about how important the development of a strong fundamental skill base is to helping determine the level of success any athlete can achieve – their highest level of potential. I have an article here on Weplay’s ParentHood titled Skill Acquisition that delves into this very issue from my perspective.

For many, however, actually seeing that concept of a strong fundamental skill base play out in real life seems to hold a lot more weight than merely explaining the same concept on paper. And that is the purpose of this piece titled “How Important Are Strong Fundamentals In Sports? Let Jordan McCabe's Basketball Skills Demonstrate That For You.”

Seeing is believing, so don’t miss the above post as Jordan McCabe schools us all on the fundamentals of handling a basketball.

Kirk is the author of "Becoming a True Champion: Achieving Athletic Excellence From the Inside Out" (forthcoming publication from Rowman & Littlefield, 2012), and the blog "The Athlete's Sports Experience: Making a Difference." Both his book and blog are written for the purpose of making a difference in the loss of perspective common in youth, high school and collegiate levels of sports.
