Hi Alyssa's Mom,
I would suggest going to the park a couple of times with her before her league/practices start. Try throwing the ball around a little, maybe go over the different positions and swing the bat a couple of times while standing in the batter's box. Sometimes it's more comfortable going into a new activity having familiarized yourself with the environment and a little knowledge of how the game works never hurts.
Also, I bet at that age, there will be many other girls who are trying softball for the first time. Everybody has to start somewhere. Even Jennie Finch didn't know how to play softball at one point. Good thing she decided to play though, because she is an inspiration to many players of the game. =)
I hope your daughter decides to play ball! We're rooting for her over here at Weplay!
