Question
Do you have any drills to help me hit my mark continuously???
I have been bowling for a couple years now and that has been the main thing keeping my avg around 180s than up at 200s and I really need help. The coach at McKendree college has been talking to me but I need to fine tune my game before he sees me bowl to show a good first impression upon him

The first assumption I am making here is that you may be having issue hitting your target consistently. If that is the case, I highly recommend that you get with a certified USBC coach to make sure that your timing is consistent. I find with my newer students that repetition of shot making is a cause for missing targets. I hope this helps.

I agree with Coach Jeff... find yourself a USBC Certified Coach and talk a lesson or two. You can find coaches in your area through the bowl.com web site at
http://members.bowl.com/SearchUSBC/SearchCoaches.aspxThis is not something that you can address by yourself, reading a magazine, or casually asking someone at your bowling to watch you bowl.

Disipline yourself to hit your target consistently. There are drills out there that coaches can give you, but it is really about seeing the line and making it happen with repetition.

Everything the other coaches have said is the best solution, get with a certified coach; but in the meantime, take a scoresheet with you to practice, and pick a target (like the first or second arrow) and mark down every time you actually roll the ball across that target. If you don't know or can't tell, you're probably not keeping your eye on your mark, so you need to work on watching exactly where your ball hits the lane at your release. This will help you focus on repeating it once you find the mark that will get your ball to the pocket.

Ok, tell me when you miss your target, do you typically miss it to the left or to the right?
Make sure that the shoulder is your ball throwing hand is aligned to your target. See if that helps.

The biggest problem I have encountered as a high school coach in trying to get players to hit a mark consistently is making sure the player stays focused on the target until the ball crosses the target. Too many players want to see where the ball hits the pins before the ball crosses their target.

Agreed. Understanding the bowling is done by rolling the ball over a target and down it's intended target is mission important. What the pins do when the balls hit them is simply the outcome. Thus explains why a very good pitch can leave a ten pin for instance.
But also understand that there can be physical reasons why a player consistently misses their target.

what i do is just stand on the spot you start on your approach the just swing your arm straight and come a the way through then you should hit the back of your neck everytime if you come up right.
