Kat- making the high school team is a great goal to shoot for! Not sure how old you are, but if you are still in junior high and not yet in high school, the key is to play as many games as possible, perhaps look at some of the soccer camps in your area this summer. are you on a club/rec league team this spring?

If you're already in high school and want to make the team, the best advice is to talk to the coach about what he or she thinks you might need to do to make the team. No one knows better than the coach!

    Good luck!

    hey kat -
first - i think it is great that you want to play hs ball
second - you must be physically fit to play a 90 minute game
third - you should be skillfull enough to pass and receive balls out of the air, shoot on goal and drobble comfortably with both feet. (in addition to many other skills)
fourth - you must have confidence in your abilities.
Good luck and play as much as you can - the game is the greatest teacher!

    Kat,
I agree with all the above answers by far, you have to be in great shape to play soccer, because the moment you slow down the other team is taking advantage of it.

Check out http://video.google.com and type "LC Training DVD". I have watched all 30 minutes of it and it is very good, if you have the motivation to train on your own.

I coach a YMCA team or 10-12 yr olds. It was sugg. to play a staggered 4-4 using the keep as stopper and offsides in my favor. Thoughts?
