I would say unless you are an elite player, I would suggest not spending too much for a bat. The advantage you would getfrom an expensive bat would be small unless you could really drive the ball with a lot of power.

i respectfully disagree. i was using a $25 Wal-mart bat and doing okay. then I bought a used Miken Freak 98 off of eBay. i still can't put it over the fence (yet) but easily increased my distance a good 20-30 feet with the better bat. and no, i don't work for a company that sells sporting goods :)
