Question
I need to know what is the best option and where should I go to sign my girls up for softball?
I have two girls, ages 9 and 11, who want to play softball this year. They would be playing for the first time and I want to know what or where is the best option for them to go? (Costs? Scheduling?) We are in Benton, Arkansas and are close to Tyndall Park. Can anyone point me in the right direction for my first timer girls?

They should start in Recreational softball. Get online and check out your city's youth rec leagues and they should be doing registration right now. Rec leagues usually arent that expensive. There is usually a one time fee you pay at the beginning that covers their uniform shirt and a hat. At least thats how it is where I live in Frisco, TX. We used to have to buy the pants/shorts, socks, cleats, glove and bat. Since this is their first time playing, you need to get them a glove now, so you have some time to break it in. Start with the Mizuno gloves. The leather is pretty soft, so it wont need much break in time and they should be able to squeeze it pretty easily. I hope this helps, and good luck to your daughters! :)

Benton looks like a great softball town. Have fun! -
Now if I could only find indoor batting cages in Benton, so that they can practice hitting for fast pitch? I have called places I found online and quite a few of them have shut down and are no longer in business and the others will either not answer or they are many miles away. any suggestions? anyone?

I would encourage you to take your kids to a hitting instructor for a few session before using a batting cage. It's very important that your kids learn to hit before using a machine. A machine will cause them to repeat a possibly poor swing many times, making it much more difficult to teach them correctly later.
