Thinking of my 6 yr old trying Comp. Cheer, except I dn't approve of the HEAVY makeup for this age. How shld I handle this?

My 6yr old Cheered for Yth Ftball locally. Our lgue rules:NO GLITZ, Mke Up, etc. I liked this, don't like little girls w/ hvy drk mkup. She's taken gymnastics for 3 yrs, her gym she atttends offers Comp. Cheer. She's been asking about it. I know grps frm our area @ use tons of drk mke up, even on Toddlers! I checked pics.of this grp, not as hvy as others, but still notcible. I don't mind pale shmmer eyeshw, (crm clr) & still be translucent, just reg. gloss w/no color & little glitter is fine. That as far as I'm wiling to go.

I am a Recreational All-Star Coach, and we did try to keep our make-up reasonable. However, I will say, that I wish we had done a little more. Just remember they are 'performing' and it is stage-make-up, like for dance productions. While the girls look really overdone up close, to judges and the audiance, their facial expressions are much more vivid in the glitter and color. Next year I will be Coach 2 squads, and we will be using glitter, too late fore this year. I don't like the nasty hair, that is all teased up myself, but eyeshadow, mascara, lipgloss... it really looks good in my opinion from the stage. This probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but maybe this pint of view helps. You can explain also, what I have always done with my daughter, is - this is just for the stage, so we can see your face. Good Luck, and just have fun. ;)

    1. That did help. Thanks for pointing that out. I had already saw the other pictures from her teams 1st comp. they looked reasonable w/makeup. But I have friends w/ other teams and gyms and they are over the top with smaller age than she is. I did explain it was only for comp. We only outlined eyes for Cat eyes slightly, no mascara and just a touch of red lipstick w/ some gloss and some Gold/white eyshadow w/ glitter . Very little blush. The lipstick looked a little red on my little one when we first put it on. But she is a Blondy and with the Black & Gold color of uniform & light skin & blonde hair it stood out. But it did tone down and I was ok with it. First time every doing comp. cheer. We did Little league first time last year, they had comp. but nothing like this.
We did have fun, thanks again.

You have to try to accept the makeup and hair. It is part of the sport.
