    have it rolled or just batting practice soft toss only do not take the bat to the cages.

    depends on the bat. some of the more expensive bats come "game ready" with no need for a break-in period. otherwise, around 50+ swings in batting practice should do the trick. avoid batting cages unless they are using real softballs and not those hard dimpled plastic balls. and try to remember to turn the bat a quarter turn every few swings so you're not hitting the ball in the same place with every swing.
