Welcome to coaching! I've coached youth football for 2 years now. First, I would highly suggest that you make a point to be their coach but someone they can confide in as well. Players at that age are very moldable shall we say. They adhere to anything and for some to anything that will help them progress. Some key things....stretching! Proper stretching is the key to helping them understand their limits of body motion. Not to mention less injury.
Drills I would keep simple but repetative! Correct them immediately by starting the entire drill over if someone messes up. They will complain but after time they'll show more effort in getting it right. Plays are harder to give advice on because it all depends on the skill level of your players. Don't limit them to just running plays or quick passing plays. I've always said though, teach running backs how to use the outside early! Breaks them of the habit of trying to kill a straight up field pile!
    Good luck with your season!
