your cut off man should be in positon and have his arms up to give you a target to throw too, but in any givin situation you and the cut off man should now where the ball is going and should be communicated that to each other. as well drills during practice should be covering all scenerios and shold be practiced repeatedly so that you and your teamate only need a quick reminder when situation arises. finally , in a game the cutoff man should be calling out that he is responsible for the throw. good luck!

    Hi Kyara,
First, it is not good for your team spirit to be blaming yourself, or the cut off man/lady, or your Coach This is simply something your team is going to have to practice and solve, as a team. Every mistake is a great learning opportunity.

Your teammates should be shouting out which base to get the ball to. The Cut man (or lady), the shortstop, should be between you and that base. The cutoff man should have his or her arms up so you can see him/her. You should get your throw to the glove side of the cutoff man because while the ball is in the air, the cutoff man should be turning toward the base where the relay throw is going.

    Enjoy the game! Mark

That's something your coach needs to be working with you and your teammates on. It's not anyone's fault, but you do need to be taught how/where to throw the ball in to in certain situations and your cuts need to be taught how to properly do their job in those situations as well.

Each player should know who the cut is "supposed" to be on any given play. However, sometimes the cuts forget what to do and you still need to get the ball in to the infield. Other players on defense should also be ready to receive the ball even if it's not supposed to come to them.

If there is no cutoff man when you get the ball throw it to second base.

Tyler, wrong again. If a runner is running to 3rd, then throw there! Tell your coach to get it in gear and teach you all how to play!

if you are playing left field just always remember the shortstop will be your cuttoff...and if you play right field the 2nd baseman is your cuttoff.
