    Dance is definitely a sport. I like this reply from the same question on Yahoo Answers (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100226204727AAXMuE6):

    ~~~
    According to the dictionary, the definition of "Sport" is: (1) An athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature. (2) Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
    So let's see...
    * Is dance a physical activity? YES
    * Does it require skill or physical prowess? YES
    * Are there dance competitions? YES
    * Is it governed by a set of rules and customs? YES
    Therefore, Dance IS a sport!
