    Catherine,
Are you looking for a formal listing of rules, or some ideas on sportsman-like etiquette or good guidelines for teammates to follow?

    Here's a list I created awhile ago:
    Do hustle
Do listen to your coach - no talking, look at the coach, pay attention
    Do hustle
Do be encouraging and supportive of your teammates
    Do hustle
    Do work hard
Do Hustle ( are you seeing a pattern here? )
    Do learn the rules
Do learn the plays and coverages
Do watch the opposing players setup to know where they are going with the ball
    Do use three hits
Do run your drills over and over and over, until the movements are automatic, then run them some more.
Do be the first in to play
Do be the first one in when the coach calls
Do be a positive influence for the team
Do be aggressive - I never heard of a coach that is upset with aggressive play

Don't get down on your self or your teammates after a mistake - use it to learn
    Don't ever give up - down 23 - 10 in a 25 point game? - Time to make a 15pt run
Don't be a distraction at practice - stay focused and use all of your time to get better
Don't be late - be early and use that time to question your coach on how to improve
Don't whine about playing time - work harder and get better
Don't be the first to play around
Don't play around at all, except at break
Don't be mouthy - be quiet when the coach is talking

Remember that the coach can teach you plays and technique, but he can only ask for good attitude and aggressiveness. You have to provide that.

That's enough for today. Notice that there are more dos than don'ts and the don'ts are all mental. While the dos are both mental and physical. Follow these dos and don'ts and your coach will never complain about your effort.
