From what I am learning you have to go at least one year before you can be drafted to the NBA, but remember to choose a career path that you can use as a back up to basketball and I know that will take a minimum of 4 years in college.

Not technically correct for the NBA. You have to be one year removed from high school to qualify for the draft. This does not mean you have to have gone to college. You can play in Europe or go to prep school and then declare for the draft and be eligible. Examples being Jeremy Tyler of San Diego High School or Brandon Jennings.

However if we are talking the WNBA then the requirements for draft eligibility are different.

    1. Player is at least 22 years old during the calendar year of the applicable season.
    2. Has completed her intercollegiate basketball eligibility.
    3. Has graduated from a four-year college or university.
    4. Or has played at least two seasons for another professional basketball league.

    1. Incorrect. You must only be one year removed from high school, this does not in anyway indicate that the player must go to college.
