It's very hard to come back from an injury like that. One of the most important things to do is not go straight to hard work outs with it, you might do some permanent damage to it because it isn't as strong as it used to be. I would do physical therapy to get it strong again and ALWAYS do what they tell you to do. Don't rush it, you would much rather sit out for a few weeks then to have it hurt the rest of your career. But it's not impossible, just work hard and you will be fine. Good luck with it!!

The rest will make you back to being slower and the stiffness you may feel might make you not function well but with proper training and conditioning you can get back to being faster. Make sure to strengthen your ankle and be careful because once a sprain always a sprain...you're prone to getting one again.

it hard to come back from a injury i jst got out of physical theraphy and they made me start runnin on like a mini trampoline bc of impact .. if you work hard you could be back at your normal speed if you set ur mind to it . Just stay strong and know not to push your self to hard especial if u feel it hurt really bad or have some kind of discomfort good luck with your upcoming season

you will definitely have to build your strength back up. the muscles in your leg may have atrophied, and will have to be built back up. luckily for us, our body has muscle memory and we can regain what was once lost with hard work.

It really depends on the rehab you've done or are doing. It you have surgery?
If so surgery tends to lessen range of motion which often affects speed. Range of motion, even after injury or break is definitely something to work on. You also want to restrengthen the muscles in the areas so that they can support the functions of your ankle when running. Ankle exercises and core training are great for that (standing on one leg when you brush your teeth will actually help!).
I didn't break my ankle, but I did tear a bunch of ligaments and it took quite a bit of work, but I was still pretty darn quick after the injury. :)
Definitely don't rush. Get healed up. If you're not 100% when you get back, it's okay. WORK ON IT so that you can get there. Push to hard to fast and you can injure it again.
Good luck to you!

it will slow you down at first. With proper rehab you should be able to get pretty close to where you were before.
