well their only 7. So you have to go easy on them and encourage them. i am in 7th grade volleyball and when my coach encourages me it makes me feel so much better! and for the drills. first make sure they have knee pads and throw the ball a little bit in front of them. have them dive for it if they dont dive for it or make an effort at all have them do 10 jumping jacks ( nothing to jurrastic because they are only 7) but for those who do dive you have two choices..either really encourage them or give them a treat like candy! candy and encouragement will make them want to try and dive. as long as they are doing their best thats all they can do!
You will do great Keena
best of luck!

Given their age, this will be a work-in-progress. I suggest that you have a couple of drills. 1st is to roll the ball to the left and right of the girls. They have to move to allow the ball to roll between their legs and stop the ball rolling by catching it behind their legs AFTER it rolls between them. The second is to have them move left and right and simple catch the ball, then progress to bumping the ball back. The key is to teach them to move first to the ball and then worry about handling the ball.

Thanks guys for the input. I tried the rolling drill suggested by Coach C and it was great! The girls are beginning to move to the ball. You guys really helped alot. Not just with this particular need, but I was able to retrain my thought process. They are 2nd grade and will not benefit from the same drills that 12-16 year olds typically do. However, I can modify them as Coach C did. Thanks again!
