A lot of times foot placement is the primary problem to ball placement when batting. If you're stepping slightly to the left when you swing you will pul the ball left. Step striaght forward (center) and the ball should go straight. Step to the right on your swing and the ball will go to the right. Another problem may be that you are swinging at the wrong time. Swinging too early and making conection with a ball when it's out in front of the plate & you can cause the ball to go left. Swinging too late & connecting when the ball is behind the plate & just past your center can cause the ball to go right. To help correct this issue I suggest vidoeing your self during batting practice then determine if you are swinging too early or placing your foot down in the wrong spot. Also try to focus on foot placement during practie to see how placing your foot in diffent spots makes the ball react. If the ball is still going let every time you place your foot in different areas then you are most likely swinging too early. Swinging too early can be easily corrected by stepping up just a bit in the box.

you can also take your back foot and pull it back while turning yourself a little towards right field so it won't go too far left.

Hi Amber, Since you said pulling the ball,I assume you are a right handed hitter. If you are pulling the ball (to leftfield), that's a good indication your new bat is not too heavy, so that's something to be happy about.
Ordinarily you want to pull an inside pitch so the fact the you are pulling the ball could simply be the way you are being pitched. Likewise you should hit outside (or a pitch on the outer half of the plate) pitches the other way or you end up rolling your wrists and therefore pulling a weak infield ground ball.
Derek Jeter is very good at hitting the ball the other way. He does with his "inside out swing". Where he pulls his hands in as he swings. You could also try a more open stance. Other things worth considering is too move back in the batters box and/or "staying back" on you swings.
Because I play so much Baseball with my son, when he pitches to me I try to "pepper" the ball back to him on the mound. Accordingly I have become an up the middle hitter. So doing pepper drill might also help.
Hitting is an art, not an exact science, what works for others might not work for you and vice verca. Have fun trying new hitting styles and find what works best for you.
Good Luck! Mark
