Hi Naomi, Contact the Admissions office of the schools you are interested in. Colleges are businesses, every Admisions office in the Country would gladdly talk to interested students. In many cases they will have the Athletic office or a specific Coach contact you.
I hope you have some luck with your top choice, if you don't, try a Community College or 2nd choice, work hard, and try apply to transfer to your top choice as a transfer student after your first or second year.
Good Luck!

When I was a high school junior, I contacted the colleges or universities I was interested in via letter and phone. I competed in track and cross country, so I typed a letter expressing my interest and included my personal best times per event. I also contacted the college's or university's athletic departments, and on one occassion, I contacted the track & field office directly, expressing interest in attending school there and my desire to compete for their program. That was enough to get my foot in the door. That was before the internet era. Recently, I helped my son do this very thing. Most athletic departments have links from a college's website. There is usually a link on the athletic dept page for prospective student-athletes. Hope this helps.

hey naomi, great to hear you want to play in college.
here are a few simple ideas:
1) put together a player profile
2) send that along with you club & high school schedule to the coach
-especially showcases and tournaments
3) as stated by others - fill out a questionnaire (athletic)
4) visit the schools
5) when it comes to selection time - pick the school you can enjoy regardless of soccer.
best of luck - keep us posted

Contact the Athletic department, In most cases they have "look at days" where you can go and practice with some of the team and get the opportunity to look at the team and the players first hand. This is also a great way for the coach to see your ability on the field and your adaptabitlity to step in at the college level.

Naomi, I am unsure what grade your currently in but there are many steps you can take to accomplish this. I think that John Barata has provided 5 must do steps that will help you attain your goal. What i can add is that you have to make sure that your academic information is current and displays your desire to attend a university. This means that you take your SAT and ACT as often as possible to get the very best scores. I will also tell you that your club coaches in both soccer and softball will provide you with help as they should have a pipeline of direct contacts with college coaches. The very first question that will come up is what kind of grades does this player have? because it doesnt matter how good you are if they cannot get you into their program academically. Also they ask this question because they have a limited amount of athletic money they can use so they suppliment this with academic scholarship money.
The process should have started at the end of your freshman year looking at possible universities of interest. You sophmore year you would be concentrating on keeping you class ranking high and understanding the things that interest you aside from your sport of choice. Junior year begins your first opportunity to send out emails to universities that interest you. You take this time to tell them about yourself, you also need to tell them about their program and how you follow them on line or in person, you also tell them a little about what you know about the coach. All of this is important. Give them your schedule both your high school games and club games. In soccer these coaches attend local tournaments after there season is over. They also attend the following events: Disney College Showcase, Las Vegas College Showcase, PDA College Showcase, and Surf College Cup. These are the main events that draw the largest college attendance. Make sure that your team attends these or apply as a guest player.
Good Luck,

The best way is to contact the schools. Send them a couple of actual game films. Do not send them highlights. Also provide them with opportunities to see you in person. Good luck!
