Does anyone have an idea how I can encourage and inspire my kids to be more interested in sports without frustrating and annoying them?

My son and two daughters have taken an interest in baseball. I have tried several things to encourage their interest as players as well as fans. I've taken them to our local AA minor league team games, borrowed almost every book from our library that has any thing to do with baseball, and rented as many age appropriate movies about baseball as I could. Judging from their reactions my efferts are tolerated rather than appreciated and I fear that they may be haveing the opposite of the intended effect. Does any one have any ideas of how to encourage their interest with out quenching it?

Well with regards to baseball, one good thing to help is getting a pickup game of wiffle ball. That is always a great way to get started without pushing. If you have other kids in the neighborhood you can get them out there. Because it is wiffle ball you can also get a kids vs parents game together.

The biggest thing is to try and get it to be a fun experience and that will generally peak the interest.

Also if you have a AA club in the area you may be able to arrange for your kids to meet and talk to the players and they can ask them why they like the game, that could also help.

    Good luck!

See if any of their friends are playing sports and have them play with them. Find a really fun camp for them to go to with kids their age.

Maybe what you can do is give them more hands-on approach. Let them practice several drills. Have them field ground balls, flyballs or let them hit toss ball. Give them fun baseball drills so they enjoy the skills basball brings

So you really HAVE done everything you could to get them to like it... except play the game! Don't go CRAZY and overwhelm them when they are supposed to be having vacation! Ask them if THEY would like camp! But don't expect YES! on the first try! Make sure they have a fun and pleasant experience with baseball/softball not an overwhelming, annoying, and boring one! So take it easy, but remember if you are having fun chances are they will too!

If they are not already on Weplay, help them get accounts here. They will see lots of other kids that love playing sports. As they start playing, you can give them Props to encourage their achievements and growth.
