Time to step up. Express your interest to your coach and teammates. Tell them you wish to enhance your skills to better position yourself for a college career. My bet is some of the other players will feed off your enthusiam and want to hone their skills also. The coach will (should) want to assist you. They usually prefer to work with the deciated few than the lackluster many. Good Luck.

Be a leader! And remember it's not always about winning. If the chance to play in college presents itself, it will be that much greater for you having stuck it through.

At the very least you need to have a "heart-to-heart" talk with the coach. Let him know your goals and purposes and make sure he has the same agenda that will help you succeed.

Your team is already facing difficult situations with only 8 girls on the roster. That means you are taking an automatic out and probably playing short-handed in the outfield (RF is my guess). I would think he would want to practice like crazy to help everyone understand how to function with this handicap.

Even without the roster handicap you need to practice more than 1x per week. My daughter was on a team last year that had a knowledgeable coach and good players but they would never practice. They had no team chemistry and played absolutely horrible. So bad they could NOT pull in a single win! This was a large part of what pushed me to start coaching. This season we are 5-0 so far and practice 3x per week as long as weather cooperates (which has been rough on us this last 2 weeks). Also we play games about 2x per week. So on average our girls are playing ball about 5x per week and they ARE continually improving as individuals and as a team.

Like I said talk to your coach. Ask him to practice more. Let him know why but if he can't help you I would consider switching to a different team that will help you.
